Has anyone had issues with PAC springs i been chasing problems with my brand new motor where the RPM was choppy in logs and the car acted like it doesn't want to rev out.

I broke my cheaper rockers shafts and has a push rod come out of one of the rockers.... then went to stainless steel jesel rockers and I lost a valve keeper and dropped a valve....

I'm starting to think its the valve springs as i heard PAC had a bunch of bad springs in circulation particularly about a year ago when my motor was being built

Or too far away from coil bind. A lot of people who do not build engines look at tighter coil bind specs as bad. When it's exactly the opposite.

So a few years back I had a friend busting up valvetrain parts. I asked him how close to coil bind he was running the springs.

He said " oh it's not that, I have a ton of coil bind clearance......"

I said, "that's not how that works......"

That's really not a lot of spring pressure to cause damage and you must check piston to valve clearance on the overlap stroke. Install a soft checking spring and rotate the engine while checking. Sounds like the valves are hitting the piston.

Can you buy an on head spring checker. You can check all the seat pressures.

LSM makes a great on head spring tester. Every winter and sometimes mid season we record every seat pressure and the exact valve lash. Its taken some time and money but our BBC valve train is very stable at 7500. years ago we had a flat tappet valve train that we changed the springs every winter because of the aggressive profile and it wouldn't rev higher than 6800.

Good luck with your rebuild.

yep thats something ill be doing from now on I saw in the logs what looked like valve float but i thought it was the trans or converter or something else since the springs were brand new on a hydraulic setup with lower spring pressure no less but next time i wont over look anything giving it the benefit of the doubt cost me.

My motor guy is doing right by it though hes gonna take care of it and fix everything now my only concern is will sleeving cyl 7 weaken the block or not cause ive seen mixed shit on whether you should sleeve an iron block
