That sounds like how I have mine setup. Mine isn't running "clean" the last .4 or so of the run. I originally had an issue with it going lean (blow through) but have corrected that. But still isn't clean through the end of the run. I thought maybe I was experiencing spark blow out. R5671A-8 @ .020.
Should I close the gap some?
After more review I see my dwell was actually running at 5.6. Per Vol Comp Ign Dwell trace. Battery was at 12.2
Per V4 instructions
Base Ign Dwell – Indicates the base ignition dwell, that is either from the user input single dwell value, base dwell table, or hard coded from the Ignition Type selected. This is the nominal value at 13.8 battery volts. More or less voltage will change this value, which is indicated by the “Vol Comp Ign Dwell” internal parameter.
Vol Comp Ign Dwell – This is the actual coil dwell, which is based on the Base Ign Dwell, and modified by battery voltage.
Battery voltage and wiring are big factors. I help a friend with his SBC on E85, 32-33 psi boost so far and dwell is 4.0mS max turning 8100. Gap is .020 or .022 if I remember right. NGK resistor plug.
I believe gap and dwell get blamed for other issues often. I’ve always uses stock Ls3 coils (square and round) at 4.5ms without a problem. From .022-.026 gap. Up to 1400rwhp.
I have seen cam count issues with Holley before. Try putting it in batch fire and try again.
Curious as to what your "Vol Comp Ign Dwell" in your logs looks like. Holley offsets dwell setting depending on voltage. It's based on 13.8 volts. With my dwell set at 5 it runs at 5.6 when the battery is 12.2. I'm curious if Holley applies a lowering offset to yours. IDK
Curious as to what your "Vol Comp Ign Dwell" in your logs looks like in Holley. How much Holley lowered them.
