I bought several plug sockets from a pawn shop and made some for my brother and some friends, probably 20 years ago.

 

Yah most places that sell these type of sockets are $$ and it's not hard to mod some regular ones. For the $50 that many want for a stubby or window socket. You can buy a carbide drill bit or burr and a couple sockets, make your own n have a tool tah boot!

 

I have several that were handed down to me by my father and grandfather. I have a giant box of homemade and modified tools actually. I hardly use them, but I do pull that box out if I am having an issue with something and have had some luck with some of them in the past.

 

I made a plug wrench for my race car. I cut down a 13/16 12 pt deep socket and welded it to a Mercedes Benz lug wrench handle. I can change every one of my plugs using it. I rarely change the plugs though.

 

I have 3 or 4 chopped off spark plug sockets in all the tool boxes and the trailer.

The window is pretty cool. Have to make some of those.

I've used shorty sockets for years, learn that in a Car craft magazine in the 70s. Sears used to sell a cheap set of offset boxed end wrenches that work real good too. I cut one in half that I've used a lot. I don't have any idea where the rest of the set went much less the other half I cut off.

 

He should have just bought angle plug heads.

Who remembers the ACCEL shorty plugs for that problem.

 

I have the Matco shorty spark plug wrench. Will get a picture today.

EDIT. The one I like the best is Snap On S5924RHS. 1/2" hole. 11/16 wrench.

 

Honestly swore while ordering parts one time, that I bought the Trickflow stubby(never used it) but don't ask me where it is LOL
