I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado with the electronic parking brake. Do the rear calipers require a scan tool to retract the piston, or can it simply be 'pushed' back in using an appropriate tool. I know that some vehicles with the electronic parking brake can be put in a maintenance mode of some kind without a scan tool, e.g., some Honda vehicles. I can't seem to find any information regarding this, I've searched gm-trucks.com as well as silveradosierra.com.

Thanks in advance for any information.

You need a scan tool to retract the pistons. AND after you retract them, you need to disconnect the battery, or the fucker might extend on you, which might hurt if your hand is in there.Automated self diagnostic tests can activate the system as a result of key FOB activation, or even opening the drivers dorr, etc.
Dont try this yourself. Take it to the dealer, or better yet ,...a competent shop
