Dynamat or other sound deadener?

Anyone have any experience with dynamat or boom mat or any other sort of interior sound deadener? My camaro has stock floors up until the back seat area, then the floor, tubs, rear firewall, package tray area and all else behind the front seats is all aluminum. It looks nice but it is SO NOISY on the street. With a motor plate and mid plate and big block everything rattles and vibrates really bad street driving. It sounds horrible. I don't currently have any carpet, though I do have door panels, headliner, stock dash, etc. I plan to carpet it but wonder if I lay down something like boom mat or dynamat before the carpet if that will help with the horrible interior noise any? Any feedback or ideas?

A friend of mine used Al's liner on his jeep tub after we got done sandblasting it. It has the ceramic beads like lizardskin so it helps a lot with heat too. In my opinion any of the rubbery spray in liners will cut your rattles drastically though

I have a friend that has a 2006 Ford with a twin turbo 12 valve cummins. It has dyno mat from front to back in the cab. You can hear the engine at full throttle but it's very faint. I was sold when I took a ride. No road noise at all.

I'm a cheap bastard, I put two layers of this from the bottom of the back window to as far as I could get up the firewall, and a single layer inside the doors on my '71 D100. HUGE reduction in road noise and "hollow" sounds. I bolted everything down tight to take care of the squeaks and rattles...

Whatever you do, do NOT put Dynamat over Lizardskin-it won't stick-don't ask me how I know-

I have a full chassis car, everything in the interior is aluminum, floors, tubs, firewall, etc. I used the large 5/8 head aluminum rivets on 3 inch centers. I didn't have any squeaks or rattles, but the large flat sections of aluminum did vibrate. My friend did his car with the small 1/4 or 3/8 head rivets on a 4 or 5 inch center, and his car is terrible to ride in. It is like being inside a tin can filled with bolts being shaken.

Even though my car wasn't nearly as bad as my friends car, I ended up covering the whole underside of my aluminum in Dynamat. It is real nice now, can't hear any noise from the aluminum, just the sound of the exhaust.

Pretty much the exact info I was looking for. Much appreciated! Yeah my panels don't squeak or rattle I can just hear them vibrating where they over lap of that makes sense. So you left the tin bare on the top side and just coated the underside?

Dynamat is over priced. Fat mat is half the cost and works exactly the same. I have used them all, spray on, stick on, the double layered tin foil stuff, bed liners, and closed cell foam. Closed cell foam BY FAR gave me the best results for noise and heat dampening. I recommend a layer of thick fat mat with a layer of 1/4 closed cell foam. If you spray on a sound dampener like lizard skin then put a fat mat or dynamite over it use a heat gun to make it stick. If you use the closed cell foam; use Weldwood glue that upholstery guys use; anything in a spray can from the store will fail shortly.

I made my own "Lizard Skin", by mixing micro balloons (used a lot in the R/C aircraft world) with the cheapest latex house paint that I could get from Lowes. You mix it until you get a peanut butter consistency, and then use a brush to paint it on nice and thick over the interior of the car (I put 2 thick coats on, totaling ~1/8" thick). After it was dry, I stuck a layer of Frost King, self adhesive, 1/8" foam insulation on top of it, and then put my carpet down over that. The difference was AMAZING, and the best part was, that I added MAYBE 20 lbs to the entire car (after coating the entire floorboard and the roof of my hatchback Mustang) and it cost ~$110 for EVERYTHING.

Here's a link to the micro balloons. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cmpages/bubbles.php

And the Frost King insulation. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Frost-King-0-125-in-Foam-Plumbing-Pipe-Wrap-Insulation/1081449

I used dynamat when I built my nova. I used it on the floor, roof, inside the doors, up the firewall. Just about everywhere I could get too. . I used the high heat dynamat under the car in the trans tunnel. Get the roller they sell. Makes install way easy
