The nipple is cut at a 45 degree angle which should be parallel when welded in at the center of the collector near the 4-1 merge point.

what I'm wondering is if the nipple is turned 180 degrees from parallel in the collector, (perpedicular) to the flow, would that create a stronger vacuum at the valve cover????

 

It should point in the direction of exhaust flow. You don't want to push air into the tube. The air going by the tube, pulls air from the tube. See the instructions & picture:

So I'm wondering if this orientation would provide a better draw. This is how I have done mine in the past, and I'm wondering if it is incorrect, or not as good.

 

I have only installed them as per the instructions and they work great. I guess your way would work too, but maybe just block more of the flow because it is installed deeper. Do you get good vacuum installed that way? Why not just install it the way it was designed?

Yes it does seem to pull a good vacuum, but I have nothing to compare it to. Mine have always been a home brew type build, only now have I realized I may be doing it incorrectly.

 

I cut a small notch in the tube like a whistle. Ever used a hose with a notch cut in it and blow thru the notch with compressed air to start a siphon? The exhaust goes in the small notch and out the end of the pipe creating a siphon.
Look at moroso's instructions. I just used iron pipe nipples and cut them to length.

 

We go to a bottle and that's plenty. We use to both run vacuum pumps, but the cars run better this way.

 

I just go by the instructions in the kit... works for me.

 

I use a Vac-u-pan, this new set up I just has bungs weled in the valve covers. I wont be using any oil seperators. I also have them mounted rear of the "muffler" they pull pretty good. I installed the fittings per instuctions.
