My current Hutch 400 has 3/4" cut off the output shaft, and I run the reid short tail ( I run a complete reid case set up) to get to power glide length, or in my case, 200R4 length. I was able to use the same driveshaft. 28 1/4" o/a length.
If you have a short tail TH350, you can run a PG length tail housing on a TH400 and a short output shaft and it is 1/8" shorter than a TH350. There are at least 2 different ones on the market available with a roller bearing or bushing. Some people just cut 5/8"-3/4" off a standard out put shaft but there are ones available already the correct length (8.5") or with extra long splines and you cut to your desired length.
So short story long, the answer to your question is "you can make it work". lol
If there both short tail housings I believe you only need to shorten driveshaft about an inch and a half I don’t know what it would cost where you are but around me we pay about $100.
