Daughter is in school and the apartment she is at has a Fire Sprinkler Riser room with an alarm going off. It has been going off for a couple of days now. Office said yeah we know about it. Things I have read on line say to call the local fire department and have them come out they will get it fixed and it should be.
I don't know anything about them so figured I would ask and see if anyone has any recommendations.

So there is an alarm coming from the room and not the fire alarm throughout the building? Is there an actual fire alarm throughout the building? Is it confirmed to be the sprinkler room, electrical room, mechanical room etc? Like someone else mentioned it could be a trouble alarm and not an actual alarm. If it makes you feel better just call the local FD and ask them to come out routine to check it out. They may be aware of the issue from the last few days and have issued an order to take care of the problem. Sometimes the maintenance will require parts so the system is left in trouble mode.

there are two types of sprinkler systems. dry, and wet.
dry systems are pressurized with air or an inert gas to keep water out of the pipes so it will not freeze. when a sprinkler head melts, the pressure is released and water starts to flow through the system.
if the pressure in the system drops, an alarm will sound to let someone know there is a leak in the system.

a wet system is pressurized with water. if a sprinkler head melts, it will flow water and set off the alarm to let someone know. the system may also develop a slight leak which will set off the alarm too.

Why would you not call the F D ??.....
Because they probably know nothing about the actual workings of a fire alarm system.

The fire alarm panel must be in that room if you are hearing an audible alarm coming from there. Hard to say what it is as we don't know the age of the alarm panel nor the manufacture. Most likely a trouble alarm that hasn't been silenced; it still shows on the panel. If it was an actual alarm, you would be seeing horns and strobes going off in the building.

I hope they didn't have a full blowen alarm sometime and put it in bypass and silenced the alarms.

Look at the covers of the horn/strobes and pull stations for a name brand.

A fire alarm company such as SIMPLEX would be the first call and then a sprinkler system contractor such as Davis-Ulmer or Allied Fire Protection Systems Inc would be the next go-to depending on the alarm trouble. Could be just a simple bad device or a dirty smoke detector somewhere in the building.

Office said yeah we know about it.
Well, if they know about it, they are responsible to have it looked at by a licensed/certified contractor. Local parties having jurisdiction should be doing annual inspections (since this is a rental) that includes visually testing each of the horn/strobes. Smoke testing (it's a can of smoke you spray in each detector) the smoke detectors and heat testing the heat detectors, pulling pull stations, etc. A modern system will give a printout of each devices performance.

Keep up on this till it's taken care of, buy a battery unit for her room.

An apartment Building that is Sprinkler'd is obviously a high life hazzard Occupancy, A malfunction in the Protection System is a serious threat to Life Safety and needs to be addressed immediately. This is not a " my engine has a miss" what could it be thread !! The Fire Department is a Code Enforcement Agency or a part of it in the Jurisdiction.
They are not supposed to REPAIR the malfunction!!.....But they certainly know how to move the Management Company to Fix the Problem...

Bingo!

The OP can also put a call into the local Building Department.....if they feel that calling the FD is to "intrusive".......some municipalities have their Building Departments do the F/A and Fire Sprinkler inspections (like the city I live in) and they will send out a Fire Inspector to check out the F/A panel status. Yes, it can be, and probably is "just a Trouble code".......but in today's world, who knows what kind of person is running the day to day operations of this Apartment complex.......better to be safe!

You have no idea what you are talking about....A trouble is not a serious issue...

were you born stupid, or do you practice being stupid every day of your life??
an alarm in a sprinkler system room means there is a problem that needs to be addressed.

unless you do not care about your or anyone else life.
It's not an alarm you stupid fuck....It's a trouble...No impact on the function of the system....You are a clueless Karen that is running your cocksucker on something you know nothing about..Shut the fuck up...Call when you have some experience with a wet sprinkler system besides your fucking histrionics on an internet froum....

How does anyone know what it is?

He said:

Is it a remote panel? Or the main FA panel.

I haven't seen a description of the sound of the alarm. Was it a beep? Was it buzzing? Were bells ringing. Constant Beep?

The alarm is activated when a sprinkler is activated or when someone activates the fire department stand pipe which is used by the fire department to supply water to the sprinkler system when the city water pressure is not enough.
Flow switches. (y)

So I am not at the location and am getting the few details second and third hand so it is very limited information that I have to go on and was asking to try to get a better idea. The building in question is an apartment building where my daughter is going to school at. She told her mother who told me. So I then called my daughter and asked the question here. One of the girls in the apartment looked on Google and found to call the fire marshal and she did on Sunday. She got a recorded message to call during business hours. My daughter went to the office of the apartments and they pretty much blew it off as no big deal that they knew about it. Well Monday it got fixed after the fire marshal showed up. It seems these apartments do as little as they can to fix stuff. Surprising I know a company spending money to keep their stuff up to date in these great economic times.

So, what city is she at for her college education?

Reason I ask is that I am the main building inspector (for our city) for a large student housing project that is trying to get finished up so they can move in their students that have already leased 95%+ of the rooms........they were supposed to be done by August 4th.......and the students are being put up in motels while they try and finish the building. A lot of those students actually get "kicked out" of these motel rooms on the weekends, because the motel rooms have been booked by the college football fans that book them, years ahead of time!

It is a sh!t show right now......parents calling the building department demanding that we "open" the building for student move-ins.......we haven't even began to test the fire alarm yet......they are still hanging drywall in multiple areas of the building (8 stories with a whole city block footprint)......we have just started walking the sprinkler system......heads missing, heads shielded, stubs without heads. They still have at least a month before they will be ready to open.

Oh the stories I could tell.......I have been on the project almost two years now.......it's crazy!

To be honest, I don't understand how the college leadership didn't anticipate such a development, which seems obvious to me based on my experience and statistics. They could have used SPSS or other data analysis tools to monitor construction progress and identify bottlenecks that require more efficient resource management. Gathering and analyzing data on the number of students and move-in deadlines could have helped the college plan construction more accurately and tailor it to students' needs. I once used https://essays.edubirdie.com/spss-assignment-help for a similar situation, and it was effective for me. Now, it would allow the college leadership to develop more efficient risk management strategies.

This really sounds crazy
I can understand parents why they demand to open it, but... I think if they knew the project's current state, they would have slowed down with their demand.
