Looking to upgrade my NA Drag Week car and go turbo. 3600lb (with me in it) '79 Malibu.
4L80E trans with brake, 9 inch with 3.70 gear. E85 flex fuel setup.
Wanting to run 8.50 index, so will need it to be 8.20-8.30 capable when set on kill.
Napkin math says this will take in the neighborhood of 1250RWHP. Plan is a 10.5:1cr 408 LS with
cathedral heads, Hi-Ram with a Shearer Fab A2W intercooler sandwiched in it.
A well-known vendor is recommending twin Precision 6766s as a budget setup for my goal, or
twin PT6870s as the baller setup. I'm not against using Precision, but would like to get some input
from people with real-world turbo experience. Would the 6766s be at their limit doing this?
I'm sure there are other alternatives that can get me where I'm wanting to go.
Looks to me like maybe a pair of Borg 69/73 SXEs could do the job. Thoughts?

As a point of reference I have twin precision turbos - 6466SP-B-GEN 2 64mm BILLET CEA C/Whl w/66mm CEA T/Whl *Ball Bearing and 1.06 SS exhaust housings on my 363SBF. They spool quick and I've run 7.9x at just over 3500lbs with them not quite set to "kill".

They are "small" so easier to package on my car.

What made you pick the 1.06 turbine housings over the smaller ones?
A/R is another subject I'm trying to understand, lol.

They will work. I’ve done 8.20’s at 3750 lbs with a 400 sbc with turbonetics t4 series 7268’s. Basic cast wheel probably doesnt flow as much as a billet 67-68.
Could even look at the s300 series, maybe billet 366’s or the s372 i think Some makers have out now
