Any pitfalls you guys are aware of on the 2014-2017 Chevy SS. They are basically the Chevy version of the G8.

I got a 16 I think the biggest thing was the magride shocks on the 15 would leak, Other than that they seem to be a decent car, They handle good , stop great with the brembos and run good with the ls3, The auto seems to be geared a little more than it needs to be but still cruise easy at 80 and 90 at 18mpgs. I think the 14 and 15 only have Brembos on the front whereas the 16 anfd 17 have all 4 .

My old lady drives a 17 m6. She puts a lot of miles on it and doesn’t do much except oil changes and it’s been fairly maintenance free. It had a little too much toe in when she got it so it was touchy on the highway but I reset it to like 1/16 in and it’s been ok since.
the ac drain plugged up a couple times and got the carpet all wet.

I have not been in one, but a friend has had two. Many parts are specific to the Holden and when he broke a windshield they had to import one it was I think $3k? HUD and left hand drive and the Holdens were right hand. There is a company in Denver I believe that does a bunch of them and rt hand lft hand swaps. Suspension parts were Camaro I believe. His wife autocrossed it in West Texas.

What happened at GM during those days ?

It used to be the SS name was an option on certain models.

Then it seems that the department that assigns names to models went M.I.A.

Imagine working at an auto parts store and the Customer asks: " I need an alternator for my 2015 SS "

Counterman: " OK. What model vehicle ? "
Customer: " just an SS "
Counterman: " Ok. Camaro SS ? Cobalt SS ?
Customer: " No just an SS "

I think it was a nice looking car for a four door sedan, and had plenty of performance features with driveline and suspension. It was simply lack of advertising, and promoting on GM's part. Most people never have even heard of the Chevrolet SS,...back then, or now.

I have heard more than once that the LS3 in the m6 SS cars are ringers and will put down about 15-20 more hp to the wheels than the Camaros and Vettes. Maybe it is wheel/tire weight or less driveline weight. Who knows. I know my buddy's 2016 SS m6 stomped the piss out of all sorts of guys on the street and at the track and all he did was e85, long tubes and a tune. He said it made just over 450 at the tire with those mods and a little over 400 when it was stock. Either way, it is a fun and unassuming car.

Yup. And throw a TVS1900 on them and your at 550hp. That’s with stock internals.
You guys are dreaming,...only a Cleveland could produce like that while staying relatively stock......:ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

I like mine do to it being a compact 4 door, I am not really a 4 door fan but the Camaro's , Challenger' and Mustang's are bigger cars and have less leg room in the back. Plus it's just as fast as a typical mustang 5.0 stick car.

The Pontiac G8 and Chevrolet SS were the Holden VE and VF Commodore SS made in left hand drive at the South Australian Adelaide GM Holden plant.
The Camaro built from 2009 was also designed and built at GMH Adelaide plant, based on the VE Commodore chassis and drive train. Full production then commenced in Canada.
the 2007 GFC caused the demise of Pontiac - and the export of LHD Commodores.
2017 saw the demise of the Adelaide GM plant after the Australian government declined to continue giving tax cuts to GM.
