The factory Aluminum 6.0 sleeve thickness is 0.075 at best without core shift. So that block has a sleeve that is 0.060 thick at best. I wouldn't run that block.

On a 6.0 iron block I only bore them. .005 if it will clean them up, but have run .030 no
problem. I just like to keep the bore to be able to clean up if an "accident", lol.

ERL was doing this. No longer tho. Steve at RED is a popular choice, and I'm sure many local shops can jog them out and press Darton or similar sleeves in. Still stuck with just 4 bolts per cylinder tho. Makes the Dart, LSR, RHS aftermarket blocks a bit more appealing (except the price!!)

 

That block is done, I wouldn't risk it. Call Steve at RED, he can resleeve it or just sell it and get another. If it goes up for sale, PM me, I might be interested. FYI, you may as well go 6.2 if you have to buy another block, depends on what the internals you already have are.

 

i have a LS2 aluminum block that is bored .030 and have made 985 whp on 18 pounds of boost. ive made maybe 40 passes between 8.6 and 10.0 in a 3700 lb car.

 

I’ve got one too.. .030 and checked sonic good. We’ll see how it goes not afraid for a street truck.

 

My 6.0 iron block sonic checked good at +.080” over and has had zero issues with a lot of hard abuse!!

 

How much the minimum wall thickness was ?

 

i've heard of it being done, and a n/a build with a small shot, i dont see the issue, esp. because it is a dry deck... not like the sleeve is the only support, there is aluminum behind it.

that being said, if you are looking to sell it ill make you an offer.
