Respect is something that is earned. People that are trustworthy, honest and have achieved things in their life are respected. A person doesn't have to be wealthy or have a high IQ either. Someone that is very good at what they do gains respect. I can respect a bricklayer that is good at it.

Just because you have a birth certificate that says you have been breathing air for 68 years does not entitle anyone to respect.

Around here as in life respect has to be earned. Around here as not so much in life dis-respect is handed out freely and constantly for no reason. You don't have to respect someone to not constantly be an asshole to them. There is a difference.
