Rod, you don't think a filter company could resolve this issue?

I've seen them on SuperStock pulling tractors running boost levels as much (and more) as these cars are using.
Tom, I suppose they could and I know this is all speculative, but I'm guessing you'd have to run a "spec" filter that provides a known amount of restriction. Otherwise, people would go with less restrictive designs and I think all you'd ultimately have is a bunch of cars that are running just a sfast as they were w/o a filter. A lot of installations probably wouldn't allow space for a spec filter with a set size as so many installations are different, e.g. under the header, sticking thru the hood, behind the grille.

That's why I'm suggesting a turbine inlet restriction. Most applications use a weld flange with a clamp anyway for quick removal. Make the restrictor a part of the weld flange. Make the turbo work harder.

Again, I'm trying to think of a way that's easier for the tech people (they usually aren't able to measure the compressor wheel inducer anyway, nor do most of them know the difference between an inducer or an exducer) and as simple and inexpensive as possible.

Turbos are exactly like blowers are to pro mod, who wants to see all turbo cars race each other? Im down for whatever gets the fans in the stands because that what this sport needs right now.

Exactly, that's what makes watching Pro Mods now a major snoozefest.

99.99% Blowers.

Here's an easy solution and not restrict the "OUTLAW"
SB Nitrous 2200
SB Turbo 2800
BB NA 2400
BB Nitrous (under 5") 2700
BB Nitrous (5" and up) 2800
BB Single Turbo 3000
BB Twin Turbo 3100
Big block single turbo and small block single turbo have run virtually identical ETs. Big block with an auto and small block with a 5 speed.

And, there is no way you are going to get a backhalf car to 2200lbs for nitrous small block. 2300, BG probably can, but not 2200.

Kieth sexton has been running mid 170's. 174-176.
Joe newsham, your orsca points champ, a twin turbo mustang with 91's is running... you guess'd it, 174-176
And the time I talked to Chris he said they had Gt47-88's on it. Which should be the rule. We have gone 210 mph multiple times on terrible runs with no real boost. I agree with the limit, but I dont think reducers should be allowed.

Here's my 2 cents:

1) Its never easy being the promoter. There is NEVER anything you are going to do that makes everyone happy. Matt has done what he can with KOTH; if you don't like it, build your own sandbox.

2) Its never easy being the fast guy. You work hard all year on making your stuff better. When you hit the nail on the head, you get one or two guys that complain or threaten to go home, and it makes the promotors take a look at your combo and are forced to make changes. Some people are willing to do whatever it takes (and I'm not talking about the $$$), and others aren't. Plain and simple

3) Restricting turbo size is going to do way more to "slow" these cars down than adding weight, and I don't think 3mm is enough. 10mm? now we are talking. 100lbs? Not enough, but I think these cars are already to fast for the speeds they are running. There is no way a 3000-plus lb car running over 180mph in the 1/8th or over 220mph in the 1/4 can be made "safe". Nitrous cars are affected more by weight changes than turbo cars.

4) Hind sight being 20-20, I think Big Block Twin Turbo combos should have never been allowed in the 1st place. I think it would have been pretty even with small-block twins, versus big-inch big block nitrous, versus small (under 600") big blocks with a single turbo. There are alot of the above combos out there right now running high 4.40s to mid 4.50s, at 165-170mph. Grant's car is just a freak show amoung reality.

5) As a car builder, its so hard (&expensive)to build a car that can compete in multiple organizations with a wide variety of rules and combinations. In a perfect world, there needs to be a nation-wide series, with "divisional" as well as "national" events, with one-set of rules, that is run by more than just racers themselves (no offense Matt). I think ADRL is on the right track with their XTF, but I'd like to see more west-coast and mid-west events, as well as some "division" oriented events.

Just my opinion...

I heard talk this past weekend that ORSCA was going to choke the Turbo cars. I asked the question "how?"

True 88s no reducer allowed.
Where did you hear this? I work for ORSCA and have not heard one thing about that.

I firmly believe removing the wheelie bars for all 10.5s will fix it.

Look at our limited street class.nitrous vs turbo

What? Why don't we just race in reverse, or how about go to the finish line and then turn around and go back to the start, and first one back to the start/ finish line wins. That would even things up a bit. What are you thinking?
