Jason,
What do you think about opening up the rules to NMRA SSO to increase the car counts?

We made it out, but sprung a trans leak after our one and only qualifying pass and were done for the day. We're going to try and have everything sorted out and tested well before the next race. Thanks for allowing us to come out and play with our half-motor scratching from the wrong end car.

F3s would be one more car. You will not see 16 cars unless the rules are opened up. Their just are not many TT5s car within 150 miles of milan. This is a extremelly limited class and without opening up the rules, cars that could switch over with just tires can't.

Unfortunately, the only thing that will fix the car counts is time. I know of at least 5-6 cars that will be racing this class in the near future. They are either broke or building their combination. The NOS cars have a significant advantage under the current rules, and their are quite a few out there. They will start coming. If the rules are opened up, none of those guys that plan on showing up will come. I know of at least two 88mm turbo combos and a couple blower combos that plan on coming out as well. The class is new, we need to give it time, to grow. Milan made plenty of money Saturday. Time will tell.

If the rules are opened up, I believe it will fix the problem short term (by a couple of cars) but it will hurt the class in the long run.

In my opinion, it is very important to leave the rules alone. Changing the rules is what killed Funford. Parity and giving a racer a place to race without making huge changes is what makes an organization successful. It also makes it more affordable for the racer.

With all of this said, I do need to find another shell and blow the dust off of the 417 cu inch motor. I do miss those mid 7 second passes!

Cars will come . . . . Times are hard around this country so it might take a bit longer for new cars to come out . . . But they will come !!! Both the TT5 and 8.5 classes will grow a lot over the next year . . . Shit it took the friday program almost 3 years to get the field counts it has now . . .

Just give it time guys . . . . .
