All i read anymore around here is Dave don't do this, don't do that.....We like the rules the way they are, blah blah blah.

Well once again cecil and Dave O do a great job listening to what everybody says yet the car counts were sad. :-damnit

Dave, I say let anybody run the 12.00 classes and 10.00 classes no matter what size tire they have or what the frame is as long as they are street cars and DOT tires and when the car counts are to big maybe then make some rules.

Thanks Dave O and Cecil for the effort.

i posted my opinion about the rules and i went to the track to support the series. it does'nt really matter to me if they change the rules or not, i'll go because it's a good series and a good track to race at.

i don't know how much of an impact the stupid chevy show had on car counts but it had to hurt them

I'm with you. I just hate to see all of the behind the scene work put into this stuff and the car counts are so bad. I, like you love the fact that they even offer all of these classes and just wish more people would support the series.

Guys, its a tough time right now in ALL of motorsports. It is cool that the directors and owners do take the time to listen and try their best to accomodate, but there is no doubt, counts are down everywhere, regardless of what you do, it isnt going to fix being broke. Hats off to Dave and Jimmy, as far as that kind of venue, they ARE the BEST show in town. We are all just seeing these waves of poor car counts for what seems like no reason at all, it is nothing more than the economy. Best thing you can do is to establish a good set of rules and stand by them, dont bend anymore than you have to, and just wait this thing out. When the money comes back around and they aready to race again, they will have respect for you, for standing your ground and not catering to everyone, just offer it and stick to it and eventually all of these rough times will blow over and it WILL get good again. Just wait and see. But Jimmy and Dave are the only ones out there down on the playing field trying their hardest to make what works.

just my .02,
Rich

I showed up yesterday. With the problems I've had with the car, it would have made sense to stay closer to home and test, instead I hauled my ass nearly 2 hours to keep car count up and lose in the 1st round. Car count is off everywhere. Our own series is off by almost half of it's normal participation.

I agree with Big Time and the well written response from Rich @ RAM Racing...I was there and the car counts were low...It is a shame, such a racer friendly facility, track almost always just right, and cost to compete fair. Thanks to Dave and Jim for trying to bring the best index racing to the NorthEast ! Now let's get there and support them as they try hard to bring us the best drag racing competition around ! Just my $.02...

well said - i could have sworn there'd be 15-20 cars in the index classes - don't know if people got scared off or had other events...i think we only had 10 in 12.00...but they were all awesome racers! I hope that counts go up and they continue these classes in 2010!

Well when things do come around I know one track that will be on top of the rest. Cecil County, they just know how to relate with the racers, because they are racers. Everyone just needs to stick it out and hang in there. This economy took awhile to get this screwed up, there is no way we can fix it overnight but its gettin better. Cudo's to those who make the effort to make the events and support our form of racing here in the Northeast/midatlantic area.

How about another class ? Prostreet and Superstreet ? You get real good car counts in both of those classes. This would make everyone happy. If its all about car count this would help.
All of us have many hours in tuning and setting our suspensions up to fit the criteria in the rules to run index classes. Any prostreet or superstreet racers are more than welcome to race with us if your car fits in the rules. I used to run the superstreet class 2 years ago but gave up the bracket racing for the heads up, alot more fun and interesting.
Not trying to beat a dead horse guys about the big tire cars but who cares if they race with us. If its a true "prostreet" car and runs exhaust on dot tires maybe limited to a ladder bar car no 4 link cars, no lettering on the car, stock appearing dash and steering column with two front seats and carpet let them run. They arent bracket cars. It would help out the class. I hope to see it continue instead of fade away.

I think he meant addind a bracket class to the existing program man.

I say give it a little time - it will grow over the next couple years.

Until about 2 years ago Atco was the only track in this area that had index racing. Now that all 3 tracks Atco, Cecil & Etown are running a index program with close to the same rules.More cars can be be built for these classes now we have 25 -30 races a year instead of 7-8 races.Leave the tire size alone it's the same as quick-8/Drag radial/275- drag radial these classes are built around a tire size not car count.C-ya

I would like to add my 2 cents for whats its worth. In todays economy putting a load of rules puts the racing into a narrow field and when them people do not have money car counts go low. T
The 10.5 tire rules are great BUT only fit so many cars. Stock frames only so many cars.
I never understood the rules on 8.50, 10.0, 12.0 but just my opinion. I think it should be run what you brung. Closet guy to the index and reaction turns the little bulb at the end on.
Those types of rules fit probable 90 percent of your race cars that can run those indexes out there.
I do understand the people who coplain that spent time and money to build a car to fit the class. BUT MORE CARS MORE MONEY FOR THE PURSE.
Thanks for reading
