HUNTINGTON BEACH – -- The city's annual Duck-A-Thon takes place this weekend beginning with wine tasting at the pier Friday.
On Saturday, 4,000 rubber ducks will be dumped off the pier into the water and race to shore. The first 50 ducks to shore win their owners a prize. On Sunday, rubber ducks with corporate sponsorships will compete for a trophy.
Rubber ducks float in the ocean off the Huntington Beach Pier as they make their way toward shore in 2008.
Proceeds from the event will go to support the city's community clinic.
This year's theme is A Duck Odyssey and decorated ducks will have an astronaut helmet, power pack and booster rockets.
There will also be vendors at pier plaza next to the pier with bounce houses, arts and crafts, and food.
