My 69 chevelle has a 496,13.1, Dart 310 pro 1, Dart intake, 1050 Pro System dominator, with a 254-260 660-666 comp cam.Turbo 400 with a 10" 4500 converter, trans brake, 5.14 rear gear. It is a ladder bar car running 31x18.5 Hoosier QT Pros and weighs 3480.I have only managed a 6.90 1/8 with 60s in the 1.5xx. Should it be quicker?

Had 4.88 in car and went to 5.14 with no change in et. With the 4.88 i was shifting to third just before finish. The cam is small but was trying to keep streetability.

look into the convertor, call a reputable company, and give them all of the motor and car specs that you can. they should be able to help.

i think the cam is to small..i had a 496 alot like yours with a crane 274r roller...went 10.30's with a nitrous converter...at 3900lbs.

more cam will make more power and will pull a higher gear..i would go with a 4.56.

to small of cam . to big of tires. It takes alot of power turn that wide of a tire. I'd go to a 31x12 wide. Its nice to have alot of tire but 18.5 thats a bit much

My Dad and I built the car in 1987 when pro street was huge, the rear is to narrow to go with a smaller tire so I'm stuck unless I buy a new rear end. If I did another car it would be a small tire but that takes alot of $$$.

Cam is too small, converter is too tight. How well do the QT's bite? If it spins, work on that first.

A .6xx" lift cam in a BBC is certainly a street cam! That thing is a pig for sure. What does the convertor flash to off the line? What RPM does it drop back to on the shift points? What do you shift it at and what is your trap RPM? It sounds like your heads and carb are too big for your cam and RPM.

I do have a plate system, only used it a few times because I would really like to figure out why current N/A combo can't get intothe 6.50/6.60 range. With factory tune on nitrous 150 shot went 6.32.

Have you tried lowering your shift points? 6700 is pretty high for that small cam. If it's not spinning, either the converter is not right, or it's really down on power, or both. What is the MPH?

always 100 mph. I have shifted at 6300, 6500, and it will pull to 7000 but I really dont need to spin it that high do I?
