This could help the rope industry if GM took over Ford. The Ford guys couldn't hang themselves fast enough

While GM may have a future as a standalone car company over the next decade, Ford does not. Its market cap is down 42% over the past five years, while GM’s is close to flat. The savings in a combination would be well into the billions of dollars. A marriage of the two also could compete effectively with Toyota, VW and perhaps the new Fiat Chrysler and Renault combo. GM also has the advantage that it is considered to make among*the most dependable American cars.

I can see it. We are in the age of consolidation. Ford and GM already share transmission/tire/engine/suspension Tech.

I don't see the Ford Class B Stock holders [Ford family] allowing it to happen unless the merged company is called FORD and they own 20% of the combined voting shares.

Won't happen. Chrysler has always been the weak sister, is constantly wanting to merge with somebody to boost its fortunes, but the mergers never seem to work out the way they expected. If merging were simple and resulted in more market share and revenues, more companies would do it. Anyone remember the HP-Compaq fiasco?
