I have received several letters appearing to be from Western Union. It says that I have an old transfer of $2000.00 still sitting on the books from about 4 years ago. I called the phone number on the letter and it was a legitimate Western Union Office. The employee was unsure what the letter was about but did not think much of it. I was still suspicious even though we used to send our house payment though Western Union at the time and the dollar figure was not too far off. I called the Western Union fraud department. They told me that scams often contain alot of legitimate information and the scam is hidden within that information. The letter asked me to send a copy of my ID and fill out a simple form so they could prove I was the legtimate recipient of the funds. Sure enough the mailing address did not belong to Western Union according to the fraud department- WTF
