I got a stock Trans Am I need to weld on in the pass floor area, and I will pull the cables off of the battery, but, do I need to unplug the ECM or PCM or any other elec. box before I weld???? Just not sure what else to unplug as to not ZAP anything!!!!

Just disconnect the battery and you will be fine.

Undo the battery and I would keep the ground as close to your work area as you can.

Yep,I believe putting the ground close helps more than anything.

I agree with the ground, although high freq is some bad stuff. I never had an issue until i left a ground neat the front of the car and welded on the rear. Cooked a fuel pump control transistor.

Now I disconnect the ECU, battery and keep the ground good and close to my work.

it depends on if you feel LUCKY..

it takes very little TIME to remove all that stuff... but it takes HOURS of WORKPLACE TIME for you to MAKE THE BUCKS TO REPLACE THE BURNED UP STUFF

underlying issue is that a small amount of damage can happen and drive you insane trying to find the gremlin in the electronicKs when you do get it running....
