That's the big selling point for LS engines being regifted as racing engines. Tear one up, throw it away, go get another one. You just get to skip one step on this one. Sorry, could not resist. Not a fan of reusing any stock engine as a race engine.
Before the advent of aftermarket race blocks most racers only had factory blocks to use. Now I understand with the power that is being made with power adders today one might want to use one of these race only blocks. With that being said. My build is a NA so with the ls platform a factory stock block is all that is needed. I mean look at the 4.8l that made 1203hp stock internals.

Do they spin them up on some kind of machine? Is there a 'run in' procedure after the actual initial start up?
Has the procedure changed over the years?
