when welding up a mild steel roll bar can you just use a mig welder or does it have to be tig welded?

Mig is fine, just make sure you are burning hot enough to penetrate the metal and not just lay a bead on top.

Yep, MIG will do it, but we always prefer to TIG weld for better heat control. MIG sure is quicker and easier, though!

I would have to disagree on the part that MIG is easier on roll cage tubing. I could never get it down with tubing, so I got a TIG and can run nice welds all day long on tubing.

MIG is faster for sure...
