We're looking at possibly changing the combo on our Studie and need some idea of what a guesstemate on what the weight difference will be.

The old combo runs a typical chevy 355, iron block and heads, with a turbo 350 tranny.

Looking to change to 496 big block, iron block, alum. heads, with a glide. Know how much and which direction that will move our total weight just from the powertrain?

I'd say if you got a factory block BB you'll be about 200 lbs more. If you got a Dart block or similiar it will be about 250 lbs more. You'll have a bigger/heavier converter with the BB motor too I'd guess. Hard to say with different weight cranks, rods and other stuff. RM
