Moved my belt drive pump from the front of the engine to the rear of the car this winter. Just fired it for the first time, I heard a faint ticking sound and reached down and grabbed the cable and can kinda feel the cable slapping around inside the sheathing. Is that normal at idle? This is the HD cable, and yes it is clamped down every 4-5" as reccomended. Wondered if it would get better as the rpm's go up? Or worse? To expensive to fuck it up. Was planning on calling Monday, thought I would ask here first.

Grease it a lot. Any drag on the cable will cause it to wind up and release, causing noise and other problems.

There is an adjustment at one end of cable, do you think its adjustment is off. They want 1.5" sticking out of hex with no shoulder showing. Maybe this could cause noise. I`ve never heard anything from my cable drive. good luck.
