Thoughts on a glass pack in 1.75" id to connect to a 38mm gate. And no I don't want to route it into the downpipe.

go a little larger(2.0-2.25) or it'll raise the boost.....

Route it into the down pipe if you want it quieter. Adding restriction in your wastegate tubing sounds like a terrible idea

It has been done in the past without any issues. John's suggestion to up the size makes sense though, no reason not to do that.

Porsche uses a little muffler on their wastegates. 924 turbo, 944 turbo, 930 (AKA 911 turbo) so may find one at pick-n-pull

my bad... 924/944 were rerouted

930 was muffled

I think it's funny that people think that recirculated into the downpipe isn't a restriction

Anything properly designed will work properly. If it only has a 35mm gate it isn't exactly a turbo pro mod.

I reinstalled about 16" of 1.5" piping to it today. It's slightly quieter but not like when it was recir


I'll order a muffler for it and try that


It's a 38mm gate btw on a pt88 t4

If introduced into the downpipe at the proper convergent angle and far enough away from the turbine wheel, depending on the mass flow rate and diameter on said combo the restriction would be minimal.

Again would depend on how much air you are moving through the downpipe and how far downstream the wastegate dump tube is introduced.
