dont know how true this is but every true nova ss that ive seen. documented or original owner the vins on 68-72 said
last 2 of year then 11427
like my nova is

11837 is a V8 SS in 64-67 Nova's 11737 is a 6 cylinder SS. Pre 64 isnt offered with a V8.

72 SS Nova is the only year of the 3rd gens that can be identified an SS by the vin it has a K in the vin I belevie its the 7th didget.

It's easy, every Chevelle ever built is an SS, every nova ever built is an SS and all camaros are Z28's

Well at least all the ones for sale anyway.

This will be all you need for any Chevelle from 64-77. Start by clicking on the year in one of the blue boxes and it will decode vin, engine, interior, rear axle etc.. I found out mine originally came with a black vinyl top. As far as Novas, I have no clue.
