does it matter if the width in the valve stem is wider than the width of the inner locking edge in the keepers??? i'm not concerned about installed height just can it cause the keeper to come off if the valve floats and the keeper groove is to wide. the reason i am asking is i dropped a valve and all the others appear to be pulling thru the keepers-pac retainers with seven degree retainers

how much cam..?
how much spring...??
how much free space before coil stacking...??


the key lock as referred to is just to position the location..
the squeezing force is what keeps it from shearing..

if the key tang gets cut off, it is probably valve float or spring bottoming out ( stacking solid the coils)..

surfaces in contact with each other..

fretting or brenelling is a sign of movement between the split lock and retainer or the valve stem...

Super 7 or regular 7 degree? Steel or titanium retainers? Pictures.................... Never had locks pull through retainers but never had more than 800lbs open pressure and never had coil bind. Sure have floated my share of valves though!
