I have a 400 sbc with an F2. I have been getting different opinions on wether I need to run a vacuum pump on my motor. I see guys both with and without so I am asking people their opinion on the matter. Do I need to run one or not? I am planning on 20 to 25 psi of boost. Thanks!!!

It would be wise it helps seal it up
X2 It seem to make my motor more happy when I put it on. Went 2 tenths faster also. I had a odd combo at the time. X NOS motor with 11-1 compression, but we put 22 pounds of boost to it and it made good power for what it was. We ran C-16 non inter cooled and pulling about 15 inches of vacuum at 7500 rpm.

I don't run them on boosted applications...You should be running very high tension oil rings with lots of boost... These pumps are common with low tension oil rings in NOS and N/A motors where every last bit of power is needed. There is soo much power with a blower you're not giving up anything.....Look at any Blown Pro Mod you just don't see pumps... You want a large catch tank vented to each valve cover... Hell even the fastest F3 Procharged drag radial car doesn't run a pump good enough for Steve.....

Nitrous engines don't like low tension in them either....(oil and nitrous dont play well together)

Thanks for the replys . I think I am going to try to get by with just a Puke tank. It sounds like it may help some to have a pump but I am limited on space and this was not originally in my game plan. So worst case I have to add one if I encounter a problem. AJ Powell I saw your car run recently and it is quite impressive!!

Thankyou, and if you can get by with running a pump I would it helps seal the motor up and gives you some fudge room on sealing up stupid oil leaks!
