thanks Jim,

If you dont mind me asking. are your pistons gas ported (which type of ports)? do you use coatings on your pistons?

thanks again Jim.

My pistons are gas ported but I'm not sure if it helps all that much. The holes are in the top of the piston. I know that I have to deburr all those little freakin holes on every piston!

I don't use coatings. I'm sure that they help but I'm just a poor white boy.

Jim, would like to hear more about the relationship between boost pressure in the manifold and the vacuum in the crankcase. I know you're a sensor/datalog junkie, so this doesn't surprise me that you have this data.

I'll be converting a Ford A.I.R. pump for my truck, and putting it in place of the power steering pump, for use as a vacuum pump. :)

Jim, also what are you using for a catch can?

I just run a plastic JAZ catch can. Yes, I have data for boost vs. vaccum. I don't pull a ton of vaccum because I run a wet sump oiling system. I just want to make sure I don't pressurize the crank case.

I can tell you what happens when you put 30lb of boost in the oil pan.

I am from Power Brake Service, we have recently put together two performance brake installation videos that show what the solution is to big horsepower/ lower vacuum cars. In those conditions we use the Hydroboost, and the full installations for these two cars are shown. You can see both episodes on youtube.com/powerbrakeservice and we should have more to come. There has been talk about it, I hope they help.

The cars covered are a T-bird SuperCoupe, and a Turbo Buick, but we are looking to do more. We can answer general brake questions in the forum, but would like to put together more videos for the more popular brake issues. Please respond to [email protected] with brake issues that nobody seems to be able to solve, and we can try to put some video content together for you. We have worked on everything: Panteras, roadsters, Laforzas, muscle cars, trucks, and even a few Rose Parade floats.
