Best car movie ever! Warren Oates cracks me up.

Have you seen HOT ROD, I think that's the correct title, it's about a guy with a old Willies with a hemi in it? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought HOT ROD was the movie about the goofy guy who was trying to be a stunt man.

Got the collector edition in the metal case with the key chain and booklet.
Possibly the worst acting ever (I've seen better acting in porn) but still one of my favorite movies of all time. I have a soft spot for '55s.

No it was made in the late 70's early 80's. I'm not sure if I got the title correct. I seen it many moons ago. I remember there was a local town hero with a Cutlass that the Willies ends up racing???

Bad acting, but great movie. Wonder if Dennis Wilson got pretty good at changing jets by the time it was done.

Loved the scenes near the end of the flick where they were running against Bill Heilscher's Mr Bardahl Corvette. That car was on display when I went to the Bill Heilscher event at Kennedale a few years ago.

I loved the scene shot from the backseat of the '55 where JT is running it up thru the gears - man, the whine of that M-22 sure brings back some strong memories.

Dunno if you notice or not, but in 99% of todays movies, those cars all have the same sound & they have close to 50 gears. how a guy can shift 18 times in one block is beyond me. in 2lane......... 3 shifts, done!!!!!

Or how about the ones where you can hear the car running through the gears, but it's a sedan that was never sold with a stick trans?

A little "technical consultant" money would go a long way on some of those flicks.

Not sure if antyone has seen this sute before, but its about 50 miles from my house, and they filmed some of two lane blacktop there. Lot of cool pictures from the past and present. The drag strip area is being developed as a resedential area, and word is they are going to leave the 1/4 mile strip for one of the streetsdue to a good base. Hated to see it go, been there a few times in the last year, found a air cleaner base, and a bunch of old oil filters. The track had a road course around the perimeter and you can still see rubber in the turns in the banking. Best I could tell the last drag races held there, were around 1979 or so. Anyway here is the link..http://lakelandraceway.com/

The engine sounds used in Smokey and the Bandit were dubbed from the TLB 55.

I'd never seen TLB until after I bought my
55,, some of the scenes are good but the plot could have been better,,,My fave is still Hollywood Knights,,the uncut version
