For a BBC. Mild steel is fine. Will a Hedman kit work to start with? Who makes a nice starter kit?

We sell 1/2" M/S BBC header flanges. Plus 45,90 and j-bends.

2 flanges
8 J-bends
2 collectors
That will get you started.

If its a serious street or race car, I wouldnt put anything but stainless on it. Mild steel wont last too long even if coated.

Stainless is certainly best, but I myself have had pretty good luck with Jet Hot 2000 coating over mild steel. I actually got comfortable with the idea after seeing how well it held up on John Gullet's Pro 5.0 mustang. The price is very reasonable. -Chris

If you go mild steel, you'll need to make sure you run 16g mild steel. The 18g stuff may not last that long. That kit you are referring to either sells 18 or 20g material.

If you need any help, let us know.

Thanks,
Brian

I used an Alston Chassisworks kit for my first set of headers. They use 16ga tubing and 3/8'' flanges. They worked out pretty well.
