I need some data or some results from Garrett cores. Right now I have the 1300HP Treadstone core and it has worked ok till now. The core is 25x9x3.5 and was pretty much the only one I could find that fit ok for a vertical core. The setup is a twin 7668 on a 325" motor. On 17psi I get a 50* rise above ambient on a pull, on 24psi the rise is up to 80* above ambient on a pull. Im about to push 30+psi and I know the treadstone is probably going to double the rise with 8psi more. I came across the Garrett 703521-6003 cores that are 10x12.3x4.5. I can weld two of these side by side for a core that would be 24.6x10x4.5. Would being 1" taller and 1.5" thicker make that big of a difference with switching to the Garrett core over the treadstone? Ive read that the core is night and day difference between the two. Just looking for anyone that has any experience with the Garrett stuff. Shearer maybe?

I have ran the garret cores 486827-6002 and 703522-6005 with great success, on 4 banger turbo cars running 40+ psi making ~900awhp I get a 20-25 deg rise in AIT during a full pass. On the street with a 3rd gear roll it will actually drop a few deg from ambient at the beginning of the pull and only rise a few deg.

For large vertical flow cores I have heard the bell cores are very nice, I plan to use on one a twin turbo coyote build but I do not have any experience with it yet.

Thanks.. I've used some bell cores also, but apparently the Garrett cores are supposed to be better because of the fin density. I just don't want to rework everything for no improvement.

I don't have back to back on the treadstone vs the garret but I have back to back the garret vs a few other cores.

A 9 second dsm I did a few years ago had a spearco 2-216 ( I think thats the number) core on it, The car would pick up 70-80 deg at the track with the spearco core, same boost with the garret core, 20 deg rise and picked up 7 mph. After some more tuning and boost it went another 4 mph.

All the ebay cores on the cars around here pick up 80+ going down the track, but they won't spend any money on a nice intercooler.

I have the 4.5" garret core for mine its just not running yet.

Makes sense. Treadstone is pretty much a chinabay core. I think Im gunna do the two Garretts. I will post results but it will be a little while. Hopefully they will be enough for 170-180lb of air flow.

Treadstone
17psi it gained 50* on a pull to 150mph
24psi it gained 80*

Garrett
18psi it gained 18*
26psi it gained 27*
31psi it gained 30*

Stout!! That's a 50-75hp increase on a 1000hp car just from the intake temp difference.

I think we did alright on that one.

Would love to see it on an engine dyno....

That XLLS9 cam aint too bad after all.

That's a hell of a difference. I run the same treadstone on my Nova and have 0ver 200 deg temps on a 95 deg day. Wish I could fit a cooler like that but already really tight with the 3.5''.

Its worth it if you can squeeze in another 1" of space. I should have got 3 of the cores and split one to make it 30" wide.
