Does anyone know how much fuel you are allowed to transport at a time? Dot regs? I have been reading title 49 cfr 100-185 for like an hour and can't find anything. Can you let say transport 2 55gal drums in the back of your pick up or is this a no no? I thought you could transport 100 gallons without having a hazmat endorsement or a placard. Thought I would ask the experts. thanks as always

I just lay the drums down in the back of my P/U and cover them.

1001 lbs is correct. So 2 55 gallon drums of fuel are approximately 700 lbs. Once over that you need a class B CDL with hazardous endorsement. This will let you drive a vehicle up to 26,001 lbs. Basically everything but a semi. You will have to placard, have a bill of lading and all applicable papers.
