I'd like to hear your opinions on this please....

2001 GMC 3500 Crew Cab Dually 4x4 Duramax/Allison combo
201,000 mi

Is it better or worse to run in tow/haul on a daily basis if you're not towing? I have a few times and did notice that it runs around 150 degrees. When running in normal mode, it's around 200 degrees.

Thats normal. I have a 2002 GMC 3500 Crew Cab Dually 4x4 Duramax/Allison combo with about 190,000 on it. I only run it in tow/haul when I am towing something heavier than 6500lbs. The temps are normal I bought this truck new and beat it to death in the oilpatch daily. I change the spin on filter on the Allison every 25000 mi and change the oil with a good synthetic (Transyed)every 100,000

Are you talking trans of engine temps?? Trans temps will be lower in tow/haul becase the torque converter is always in lockup My engine temps are pretty steady around 190 deg.

Bear...How much goop are you finding on the magnet if you only pull it off every 25K?

DG, what you're seeing on the trans temps is what most of my customers tell me they see too.
