Mickey Thompson Tires Top Fuel Harley rider Kevin Boyer passes away

Kevin Boyer

Mickey Thompson Tires Top Fuel Harley rider Kevin Boyer passed away Oct. 18 after a brave battle with cancer. He was 56.

Boyer, of Edmonton, Alta., had been drag racing for 40 years, most of them on two wheels, and was one of the top talents on the Nitro Harley world. The owner of a heavy truck repair and fabrication company, Boyer reached two final rounds in NHRA Top Fuel Harley competition, winning the 2017 Northwest Nationals in Seattle, the event closest to his home, and scoring a runner-up at the 2016 Winternationals.

The Boyer family racing team enjoyed backing from ACE Manufacturing, which builds quality electrical, electronic and utility enclosures, since 2013.

Boyer competed for the final time at the Harley season-ending Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, where he qualified No. 6 but fell to eventual world champ Tii Tharpe in round one.

Boyer is survived by his wife Gail, son Royce (who served as his crew chief), and daughter Christyne.

The NHRA extends its sincere condolences to the Boyer family and their friends and supporters.
