Hey Jason, just switched brands to your 31x10.5W x 15 slicks. Made a couple of passes yesterday and had terrible vibration issues. Never had any issues before. 2600 lb. Mustang, runs mid 9's. Not running tubes and didn't have them balanced. I've always been told not to balance slicks. Whats your opinion? Tx.

It is common for drag slicks to be several ounces out of balance. I always balance them with stick on weights on the surface inside where momentum clamps them tighter (parallel to the "tread" surface). You can't expect a vibration free ride at 140 mph with a tire that is several ounces out of balance.

I don't balance mine either. Maybe you have a defective tire? Throwing it on a balancer might help just to see how far off it is.

Thanks for the feedback, took em off today, gonna have them spun tomorrow to see where there at. Never balanced a drag slick before and never had a problem.

I always used to balance mine but I didnt have screws or anything and they would spin on the wheel. Seemed to me like it totally defeted the purpose in balancing them. So now that I have beadlocks I dont balance never been a problem.

Look at it this way. What have you got to lose by balancing them?

If you go to an NHRA event the top fuel guys have a "spin balancer" in the back of the canopy/tent. I know we are all on a different playing field, but maybe they are doing it for a reason...

If a tire is way out you can break it down and spin it half way around on the wheel. I've never done it that way with tube's but I've seen it make up almost 4oz's one time. I ballance.
