I have a broken rocker stud I am trying to get out of an LS3 head. I have a good hole drilled in it, first two easy outs just "dulled"? The threads went flat. Did I hammer it in too much?

Should I buy a torch and apply heat?

Should I use the stud extractors that are more square like this?

No matter what your next step is, definitely apply some heat to it first. A good propane torch will work though it may take awhile to get as much heat in it as you need.

If someone used Loctite, especially red, heat will release it.

No matter what your next step is, definitely apply some heat to it first. A good propane torch will work though it may take awhile to get as much heat in it as you need.

Extractor being the style I used? and it wasnt very expensive, from home depot

I know a better way, I've gotten many broken bolts out without ever drilling.

All you need is a TIG welder as a hint.

Real ones have vertical flutes or left-handed spiral on the larger sizes...

Hah, Easy-Outs have a much more gentle spiral and are designed to be tapped (pounded) in.

Respectfully, what you pictured is a left-handed thread wood screw.

ya that tool is a soft POS. get one harder, use some heat.

if that dosnt bit it, get one of thouse hammer/turn tool. I have a old one looks like a 1.5" knurled alum screwdriver handle with a 3/8 drive end, you can set it clockwise or CC, and hammer it and it turns a little bit in the 1/4" of spring travel in the shaft. works better then a normal easy out by hand.
