I was checking my timing with my timing light tonight, and I noticed that it has a little jump in it every couple of seconds. The timing mark would be dead on for a bit, then jump. I couldn't tell if it was jumping advanced or retarded, but it wouldn't not stay on TDC consistently for over 10 seconds. What could be causing this? Is it anything major? I have msd 7531 crank trigger and msd pro billet distributor

You running a timing chain? Slack in the chain can do this, as well as small debris on the trigger wheel or pickup. Also, not sure if you're doing this, but on MSD stuff, it will mess with many timing lights because of the multiple sparks. Always check your timing with the rpm of the engine above 3000. It's firing only one spark at that time, and you should have a more stable reading as a result.
