I would imagine those sportsman cars are approx, 1000# lighter than me. Best 60' to date has been 1.25. We're going to try leaving a little harder next spring on good tracks.
My car will 60 at 1.29 in good air and about 1.32 in bad air so we are not that far apart on 60 ft times. I run Hoosier radials and have for the past 10-12 years. 13.5 X 31.5 They are fast , consistent and wear like iron. I still cant imagine that 4 - 5 hundredths quicker in the 60 ft times will kill the tires. I typically run 12 - 13.5 lbs of pressure in my tires. The ones on my car right now are 2 seasons old and most of the holes are gone so this is this last race weekend for them. Well over 100 runs.

Sounds like it's down on power after sitting for "...setting for a few years".

Have you leaked it?
Re-read the first paragraph of the Op's initial post.

I read it before posting.

Hoping the OP will post 'then' and 'now' pics of time slips with the incrementals.
It slowed down before he threw the new parts at it.

I wonder if the 3" height difference plays a role in how long the sidewalls hold up. No experience with anything that tall.

Actually, it slowed down before he let it sit.

Doesn't sound like it's been out since. Trying to work on a problem from years ago w/o the car going down track now is pointless.

On new tires, as if that needs to be said......;)

EXACTLY!! ... that was my point.

He was racing it then it's like someone threw a light switch - lost 60' and no longer would wheelie. Indicates to me one of two things -- tires and/or shocks.

My car the 60 always falls off after maybe 20 passes. tires look great. but they don't work. I sell them and put new set on and she's back in action. My sidewalls usually get some tiger stripes you can see where they wrinkled real hard. prolly destroyed the side wall.
I run 26x10's on a 5.40 car and log all the runs. I run into the same problem, 60 fts begin to be a little inconsistent at about 15 passes, the start slowing down at 20. At 25 passes, 60fts and et really fall off. Tires still look great though.

What are the incrementals between 60/330 330/660 compared to before? What about ET/MPH? Cars that kill sidewalls either have A; a ton of power. or B; the suspension is set wrong pounding the the crap out of the tire. For what its worth my car gets 150 passes on 10.5w31 1.2x [email protected] Loss of .10 in 60 is huge. If there is no spin the power being applied to the tire is low. Whether converter or lack of HP.

So why not try new tires? You're going to need them at some point, anyway, if it's not the current problem. And it seems like the simplest thing to try.
