I'll get the full results up by sometime Sunday morning. A little tired right now and I just cracked open a beer so I doubt I'll stay awake long enough to get them done and posted tonight. Braskett got Higg off the line .038 to .104 but Larry ran him down with a 4.115 to 4.192 (Scott's slowest run of the day).

WTH, I couldn't imagine with the disaster that just happend there 1 week ago anyone with a fast car / dragster would want to run 1/4 mile there.

Hamstra-Broke on burnout

Notes: A couple of track records were set. Jason Hamstra reset the ET record in Outlaw Dragster by a mere .0008. His 3.7384 in round one of eliminations bettered Paul Molnar’s 3.7392 set September 2011. Hamstra’s 195.03 tied Molnar’s record for Top Speed. The Outlaw Dragster field had a new record bump spot of 4.0658 by Mark Bliven. The previous best was 4.1545 by Dan Leech in July of 2011.

Larry Higginbottom must be planning on running some Top Sportsman; 4.12, 4.11 and 4.11 in eliminations. That’s the best he has run at Thompson and it is also the first time he has won there. If you know Larry you can guess how big that grin of his was after the final. Larry was also pleased to see two blower cars in the final and six in the top eight qualifiers.

Jason Hamstra and his father Kevin stepped it up a bit for the second round of qualifying but the bolts that anchor the plate between the blower and manifold managed to work themselves loose allowing the blower to lose two pounds of boost. Kevin told me he didn’t know what to expect for the first round of eliminations. What he got was a new track ET record. They broke a rod on the burnout in the second round.

We had a little Battle of the Back Up Babes break out. At the May race at Thompson Dave Jamison’s wife Kathy wore an outfit that reminded me of the old school hot pants-tall leather boots outfit we all remember from the old days of the sport. Not to be outdone Paul Molnar’s wife Penny broke out a similar outfit this week. It’s nice to see the ladies get in the spirit of putting on a show for the fans.

Tony Mancini was unhurt when he rolled his dragster at the end of his first qualifying pass. Tony had trouble getting the car stopped but fortunately the chassis worked like it was supposed to and broke off right in front of the foot box. The car looked like a total loss but Tony was fine afterwards.

A new Lake Erie Monster emerged at Thompson. Keith McLennan drove Dave and Scott Koffel’s new dragster to a final round finish in only their second time out with the new car. The car sounded like it was running on seven cylinders after the burnout in the semis but Hamstra broke on the burnout so McLennan staged the car, took the green and shut off. Everything checked out fine in the pits before the final so they were ready for DiDomenico but the car seemed to have transmission troubles in the water box and was shut off.

Mike DiDomenico has been rolling in Asphalt Wars action. In the three races run so far Mike has three wins, two at TRP and one at Pittsburgh. He was on a good pass in the finals but shut off at half track. He went 9.174 to sixty feet on that pass. He was .9142 at sixty feet on his 3.75 run in the first round.

Asphalt Wars will be in action next Saturday June 23 at Pittsburgh raceway Park.

There will be a full report on High Octane Racetalk Monday June 18. The show runs from 6-8 PM. Mike DiDomenico will join us at 7PM. You can hear the show on Cool 101.7 FM in Meadville and listen online at: www.cool1017online.com
The call in number is 814-333-9011.

There will also be a report on Rappin’ on Racin’ at 8:15 Monday. You can listen online through the website www.speedwayproductions.biz. You can also access the archives through that link.

Great to see Scott and Larry in the finals, congrats to Larry on his win I'm sure it was very special. We're going to make the trip up there very soon because I can't have my turbo guys getting beat up on like this and I will rally the troops to make sure everyone is in top form when we come up. Tell those Dragster guys they better pick up that speed too or a door car will have the MPH record lol..
