Have a TH350 that started acting up last night. When driving down the road it seems to disengage and then engage again while driving down the road. Along with this it has a very hard clunking sound when it does this.

It still has all 3 gears and shifts fine.

Anything in particular to look at internally?
Cracked drum?
Planetaries?

Almost sounds like broken internal hard parts inside such as planetaries. It sounds like it should be taken out and inspected.

Had one act kinda like that once,it broke the anti-clunk spring for the low/reverse roller clutch assy.,bummer is the only real fix was to tear the whole thing down to replace that thing.

But that would just be a WAG off the top of my head...

Check the fluid level.......
that is usually what breaks them.
i had one that had all gears and ran fine, but sounded like the driveshaft was falling out of it. it rolled the sprag and killed the drum from what my tranny guy told me.
powerglide and dont look back. picked up a tenth.
