I have a crazy setup that I build my stuff in. I have a mig out by my car and a tig in the basement. I bought a roll of 308 wire for my mig to tack my header tubes. I then planned to do the finish welding with my tig. I don’t plan to change my mig gas from argon/co2. Am I going to have a problem with the tack welds when I tig? It seems mig tack welds on mild steel seem to have some sort of contamination the tig doesn’t like, not sure about the stainless. Or is this a good old fashioned case of overthinking ???

Thanks

tack it all together, then tig a few sections to hold the position and then grind the mig tack off

You will NOT like running a TIG over top of a MIG. Lol.

Its the worst! As was said, if I get something that's mig tacked that I have to tig, I'll definitely grind the mig tack off.
