When should you start to use a stud gridle on a sbc? I am trying to get a summer with my. Comp cam ultra pro mag 3/8 rockers without upgrading. It is a sbc with procharger . cam has 640 lift. 175/500 spring rating and only spinning to 6500

I see nobody answered you... We are the original Stud Girdle guys (Jomar) and would say unequivocally that you should have one! Not just to sell something, but 3/8" studs are marginal at best.

When John A. (Jomar Hisself) put the first prototypes on a tired '67 Corvette 327, he picked up 400 RPM.

Newton's third law - the studs bend away from the valve! You will gain longevity for a small price, but should see a 20-25 HP gain as well. That's a fairly stout spring for a 3/8 stud.
