I will be building a procharger engine sooner than expected and my current tranny will not be able to handle the new power.

It is a 68 Road Runner - About 3700 lbs
500 inch engine with a D1X procharger, (planning on 750 - 900 hp )
Ladder Bar 4.10's

Would like to drive Street and Strip

Should I upgrade the 727?

Or have a Turbo 400 build with a JW adapter?

my cousin has a 67 barracuda. his trans guy said the downside of a 727 trans is the higher they spin in rpm, the more they rob power. so his trans guy talked him into putting a th400 with ultrabell in it.sofar so good...any thoughts on this hutch? maybe an old wives tale? his application is 12:1 comp 499cu. low deck on spray

The T400 is a great choice but its not for everyone. In an alloout race application I would suggest a T400 also. As far as robbing power , thats another story and some old tales keep coming to light from the past which are inaccurate.
