Depends on the ignition but 0.023" to 0.028" seems to give us the best times.

Running the gap at 35, would that cause the motor to do anything like make the motor pop or misfire
It would for sure. When you add more fuel it taxes the ignition system and make it harder for the spark to jump. Electric is lazy. That mean the spark will look for the least path of resistance, meaning, a crappy wire or cap will spark/arc before the plug.
IMO it is easier to start small and open it up to find the sweet spot for your motor.

Whats a good gap for a 383 11.1 about 500HP on motor spraying a 200 shot? (Cheater kit)
Goes mid-high tens on motor and maybe mid nines on the spray.
