What a bunch of BS

On a recent weekday morning, I visited a house on Barona Mesa Road. Sitting on the patio, the homeowner told me that he was recently divorced. His wife, he said, just couldn’t take the noise anymore. He can’t afford to move

I loved this part.

While telling me this sad tale, he periodically had to raise his voice above the roar of motorcycles going around the track. It sounded illegally loud to me.
He must have some kind of cool calibrated ear or something.

Typical.....exactly what happens when people buy expensive houses around things that have been there before them. The loud things need to go away so the expensive house people can "enjoy" their area. Should have looked into that before they bought. I have no sympathy for a homeowner that purchases something near anything that makes "unusual" noise". It wasn't hidden to them and they are stupid for thinking it would just go away. Hopefully the track and reservation holds their ground.

Didnt the guy say he visited the homeowner on a weekday? Go to work at leave others alone. That land was allocated by the elders of the tribe a long time before a first home was built. It is meant to be for the enjoyment of younger tribe members. Tony had Sand Drags long before the asphalt track was built. Maybe developers should have a closer look at what they are buying and what it is near. You guys need to get in touch with Joe or Boxie. They are the oldest of the elders that sit on the tribal council. Joe lives the last house on the left before the casino when you are coming up Wildcat Canyon Rd. from Lakeside. Both are very easy guys to speak to. When you go talk to Boxie take some Coors Lights with you.....lol I havent spoke to either one in 5 years but they have the pull. You may also want to see who is the head of the tribal council at this time. I cant imagine privately owned land so close to the drag strip they would hear noise unless the land is accross the road to the east. No one is complaining about the round track? Or is it closed and was made into a Moto X track? You guys may want to look up Tony as well. He knows a lot of what can be done there as well. In my opinion an already existing venue should have rights over the new people that want to bitch. Dont let this turn into another Carlsbad.

this is exactly what happened to OCIR back in the 80's people complained about the noise and that led to the closure of the track then after that was done the fought for the closure of MCAS el toro

if barona closes that also mean the dirt track will close !!!

Oldschool your statement about only two tracks remaining in So Cal is far from correct. Has Barona closed? NO!!! The round track and the Drag Strip are run by two different groups of people are are also two different money making entities!

More political bull shit. I would love to here the tribe tell GO FUCK YOURSELF. That track has been their a long time.
All of us racers should get together on Saturday night and take some Cruz's threw their Nader-hoods.

I live near a oval track in Thompson, CT I can hear the cars and even the PA some nights I don't care they were here before me and that's how most of the town sees it.
I was told by a buddy he's on the town board, one time a guy in town moved next to the track and then complaned, he told him you moved next to a race track so too bad... he's a good guy :)

I track in Westboro, Ma closed do to problems from people complaning dam people only if it's good for them...

We had the same situation in central IN with a circle track. It was in operation for 20 to 30 years not exactly sure but new houses went up close to the track during the housing boom ( when idiots went out a built houses they could NOT EVEN COME CLOSE to affording). Next thing they got a attorney and took the track owners to court. Ruling was, SHUT THE TRACK DOWN!!! This track was the sole business of the family that owned it. This was their living. Now I am not the smartest man in the world but if I built a house next to a race facility I would expect lots of noise. People are soooo freaking STUPID. As far as the guy that lost his wife, if I were him I would look at his best friend or maybe try some viagra because I really doubt it was the noise.

My g/f lives about a mile from Cecil County Dragway. When I'm not racing and am actually at her house you would hardly know there was a race track that close, unless Jim is running his pro mod :p

However, If you are sittilg outside on Sunday morning you damn near need ear plugs. Those jr dragsters are the loudest damn things, which always made me wonder why tracks don't let you start un-muffled cars before 10am or noon on Sunday because of noise ordanances but they let the loudest cars at the track, the jr's, run. Never made any sence to me.

So with that said, it those dirt bikes sound like the jr dragsters then I can see what people are complaining about.

Lownova... the perfect way to piss off others even more and show the real mentality of some Drag Racers! Make sure when you cruz the hood you have a sign on your car saying you are not affilliated with the local dragstrip! Actually the track hasnt been there that long. It was a sand drag long before it was a asphalt track. Tony had both of them. he almost did all the work himself converting it to asphalt. This is Indian land. Who knows what laws they have to conforn to by the state of California and San Diego County.
