You can certailny agree is was insensitive for him to choose a sitting president as oposed to one who was actually assasinated. At minimum, its a poor choce of lesson plans, at worse it can be taken as a threat to the president. Does he deserve to be fired? Proably not. A good smack in the head for being stupid, hell yes.

Also today, a student in Harrison's class said the incident has been "blown out of proportion."
"We were going over a test and getting reviewed for our finals and were going over tangency," sophomore Malia Drummond said. "A student walked in and said, 'Well, if you shoot the president...' and the teacher picked up on it and said, 'OK, if you shoot off his ear, that is a point of tangency.'"
This was blown way out of proportion.

The article says the "shoot the president" example came from a student, so he continued with the example to help them understand. Definitely not cause for loosing his job.

Vaild points for sure.

I find it interesting that there was no mention of the student who brought up using the president being questioned by the Secret Service.

Seems as though one of the students ratted out the teacher.

Way down the controversy meter compared to the POS La Raza loving, self-proclaimed socialist history teacher, calling for Hispanic revolution to create a socialist America.

I wonder if this would be viewed any different if the President used for the teachers example was JFK, Lincoln or Regan, instead of Obama

Hard to say. The secret service probably wouldn't have questioned him though. Using the assassination attempt of ANYONE dead or alive is probably not the best idea of how to teach geometry. That being said the teacher just picked up on what the student said and ran with it. Grounds for firing, I don't feel it warrants that.

I actually had this guy as a coach and teacher in high school. I think it has gotten way out of hand. I can't believe that it went as far as it has, that someone would actually make this big of a deal out of it.
