I'm looking at what could be a deal and could be a PITA...it's what I think is a shorty glide but I have a few questions.
1. Can I run a regular driveshaft? I read somewhere the yoke could just be shortened? I don't have a 9 inch (Winters rear) so I can't run a CV shaft.
2. What are those big holes up front on the case? Converter cooling? Foot killing?

Some of those with the big holes did not have cooler lines. No bueno for performance application.

If your wanting to use that glide for a performance minded car, you don't have much of anything useable there.

I wander how this ended up being used as shorty for a dragster? Someone had to run it like that.....I guess maybe a low power setup....

I never seen anyone run a shorty in a car with a long shaft either...

Sounds like something weird enough to be a pass....it was only $500 with converter so I was a little hopeful but probably just save my cash towards a "normal" glide.

It can be converted back to full length. Just depends what your trying to do but using it in a car as a shorty is not recommended.

Many years ago I had a neighbor that ran circle track with holes in the bell just like that. I believe the holes were to run hoses to front pump in a converterless powerglide. He used a ball valve in car to engage pump. I at least think that is how it may have worked. Probably wrong.

$500 if it's got a TB valve body and useable parts it's worth that especially if the case has cooler ports. Plenty with the bellhousing holes out there racing and if it cracks buy an ultrabell. For a door car swap planetary gear and puta tailhousing on it.
