My father has been on short-term insurance policies over the last 3-4 years because the plans worked out great for him but now that he has "been advised for a heart issue" his old plan won't take him.

His short-term BCBS policy was $235 for 11 months with a $1,500 deductible, a great plan. An equivalent plan on the exchange would be well over $1,000 if you can even get a deductible that low and thats without inputting any health info. I am on a Humana short-term plan paying less than $200 a month for $1,500 deductible. It just seems silly to pay over 4x's the cost for much less coverage from a sub-rate insurer (most of the companies on the exchange I've never even heard of?)

Anyone else have a short-term policy they like or any other good ideas? A plan on the exchange will probably break him with it's monthly cost vs the high deductible...any other options?
