most people put in 8 or 16 ......your choice...yes they are to stop the tire/slick from turning on the rim.

I glue them with permatex.

I have a slow ass 3800lb 4 speed car that runs in the low 11's, and the only way I can keep the wheel from spinning in the tire is to screw it.

If you have tubes in your tires you NEED rim screws. If you dont have rim screws with tubes WHEN the tires slips on the rim it will cut your valve stem resulting in a flat tire.

I have heard a bunch....not sure if much of this is true. But here it goes :

Keeps the tire from slipping - yes
Helps tires loose air - Yes
For Slicks, it seems to make the side wall stiffer - look at a picture, the wrinkels lead to a screw. This is the hard for me to believe part.

One thing for sure, no matter how many screws you use, set them up EXACTLY the same on both sides of the wheel. If they are off, it can cause the tire twist differently and it will "pull" the car to one side.

I want to learn the glue process myself.

My good friend never uses glue or anything on a DR, he prefers a bit of slip.

I have used screws with my hoosier 10.5 & never had an issue with them ever losing air. M/T on the other hand , Different story.

I remember 10 -12 years ago pro stock was still using screws to 6' seconds passes at over 200 mph. And I also remember the tragedy with Eric medlen with an improperly mouted beadlock . I'll stick with screws .
